Top tips for making the most of your stay

Barcelona is a lively and dynamic city, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality. ISE has several local partners who benefit from engaging with the show and our attendees and welcome our involvement in Barcelona life, not just in February but all year round. We encourage all attendees to take the opportunity to explore and enjoy the city's many attractions, while staying mindful and taking the same precautions you would in any major city. In partnership with local authorities including the regional government, city authorities and Barcelona Turisme, we are committed to ensuring that ISE continues to maintain the highest level of experience for all.

Top Safety Tips from Mossos d'Esquadra & Generalitat de Catalunya

Barcelona is a safe city. However, while you are here, we suggest that you take common-sense precautions as you would while visiting any other city.

  • Take off your Badge! We recommend that you remove your accreditation/badge when outside event- related hospitality areas. Likewise, we also advise against wearing your organisation's polo shirts outside the areas linked to the congress to avoid drawing attention to yourself.

  • Keep Luxury Out of Sight! Any international event draws the attention of organised crime, especially for stealing luxury watches and other valuables. We recommend not displaying them. However, if you do, be especially mindful of your surroundings and be cautious of unknown people approaching you.

  • Keep Valuables Close and Secure! Try to carry your valuables in front pockets instead of back pockets. Always keep your handbag in crossbody style. During visits to tourist areas, we suggest that you take only the necessary money and valuables.

  • Distraction is Their Game, Your Valuables Are the Prize! Be wary of people with a piece of clothing hanging from their arm, a newspaper folded in half in their hand, or a map. Criminals use these items to disguise their hand movements and the object they steal.

  • Protect Yourself in Crowded Spots! Stay alert for pickpockets in leisure and shopping areas, on public transport, and in crowded spaces. Exercise caution in busy areas, hotels, restaurants, public spaces, and while using public transportation. Be mindful of individuals attempting to create distractions or diversions.

  • Protect Your Data on the Go! Protect your data by avoiding public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks and using a VPN for added security. Keep your devices updated to ensure the latest safeguards are in place.
