Securing the Future: Resilient, Human-Centric Control Rooms
The Control Rooms Summit 2026 focused on turning today’s challenges into tomorrow’s opportunities for mission-critical control centres across all sectors. Instead of spotlighting just the latest gadgets, we explored how new technologies can be harnessed to strengthen operations, empower people, and build trust in the control room environment.
Topics included integrating AV/IT systems to cut through data overload and provide clear, actionable insights to operators. We examined ways to leverage AI and automation not as buzzwords, but as practical tools for proactive decision-making – helping teams address incidents before they escalate while maintaining human oversight. A major theme was resilience: from cybersecurity strategies that safeguard critical infrastructure, to design approaches that ensure uptime and reliability under pressure.
Crucially, “Securing the Future” means placing the human at the centre. Through case studies and expert panels, the summit highlighted ergonomic control room design, collaborative workflows, and training programs that keep operators engaged, safe, and effective in an increasingly complex environment. Attendees discovered how to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, ensuring that high-tech investments translate into high-performance outcomes aligned with organisational goals.
At ISE 2026 we charted a course for resilient, human-centric control rooms – bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and the real-world impact it can deliver. This was a great opportunity to learn, network, and prepare control room teams to secure the future of operations in 2026 and beyond.
The conference was chaired by
Peter Prater, Chairman of the International Critical Control Rooms Alliance (ICCRA).
David Jackson, Strategic Consultant and ICCRA Director EMEA, co-hosted the Summit with Peter.
