Humans evolved by the daily, dependable cycle of daylight and nighttime, light and dark. Maintaining our essential circadian rhythm depends on it. But artificial light and modern and lifestyles have increasingly disrupted this daily cycle, further challenged by recent advancements in lighting technology. Human-Centric lighting focuses on what people physiologically need from light, optimising the lit environment to boost human performance and wellbeing. This course delves into the principles behind why human-centric, bio-adaptive lighting is so important. Topics include the composition of natural and artificial light and how we as humans respond to it, including colour temperature and luminance levels.
