What to see in smart building at ISE 2025
ISE InsightsWhether it’s for a skyscraper or a retailer, hospital or MDU (multi-dwelling unit), or even your own office or home, exhibitors at ISE show a range of smart building solutions including access control, energy management, building control, smart lighting & shading, public address, digital signage, wayfinding, unified communications, video security, cabling, audio-video entertainment, smart workplace, and Internet of Things.
While much of the technology will be on show in the designated Technology Zone known as Residential and Smart Building, some exhibitors prefer to show in the more generic Multi-Technology halls or in another dedicated area (such as Unified Communications or Digital Signage).
The Residential and Smart Building Zone (Hall 2) is home for the stand of the KNX Association (2L300). Its members and their products are a driving force worldwide for smart homes and buildings offering the KNX standard for intelligent building infrastructure to ensure connected components and devices can communicate with one another. The association is supported by at least 500 manufacturers with 8000 products. You’ll find a number of their members displaying the latest products and software which include KNX Energy Management (supplies optimised energy usage), KNX IoT (enables new IP physical layers and standardises an API), and KNX RF (wireless technology for secure, interoperability, and energy harvesting).
One latest example of a commercial KNX project covering 5000+ sqm is at the Red Sea Development in Saudi Arabia, where more than a hundred KNX devices are connected – and at work.
Also in Hall 2, Nice S.p.A. (2K300), one of the major international names in the home automation market, will show its Yubii Home Pro, a multifunctional hub providing simultaneous control of over 200 devices (and compatible with 3000 third-party devices) for the creation of tailored scenarios across access control, security system automation, climate regulation, lighting, entertainment, sun shading solutions, and appliances.
SnapOne (2L130) from USA will offer nearly 50 trusted smart brands encompassing tech categories like audio, video, surveillance, control, networking, conferencing, and remote management.
From China (founded by a university professor who developed the first Chinese digital dimming controller in the 1980s), HDL Automation (2J100) is a leading global provider of a full range of smart living solutions with presence in more than 106 countries and regions, serving 500,000+ smart home enthusiasts worldwide.
Not to be missed in Hall 4, Swiss-based SpinetiX (4K420) helps to shape the future of smart buildings with immersive, experiential signage that transforms interactions and enhances visitor experiences. Their latest case study showcases the successful integration of its cutting-edge digital signage solution at Millennium, an iconic smart building known as the smartest in Switzerland.
In Hall 5, Beckhoff Automation (5F350) shows its philosophy of PC-based control (as well as the inventions of the Lightbus system and TwinCAT automation software). Nearly €2 billion in revenue proves this approach to be successful as an alternative to traditional control technology. Beckhoff will also show its EtherCAT, a real-time Ethernet solution that’s future-oriented for a new generation of control concepts. As an example, the Italian department store group Bennet SpA equipped its 73 stores and 45 shopping centres with modern building automation and PC-based control from Beckhoff to create different lighting environments and high energy efficiency.
FSR (5J750) is a leading manufacturer of floor, wall, table, and ceiling connectivity boxes for the audio/video, IT, and electrical – and also brings you the award-winning Smart-Way line of floor raceway, that routes power, data and A/V cabling across the floors.
If you’re looking for 'enlightenment', you can find exhibitors such as Lutron (2H500) whose light control products range from individual dimmers to total light management systems that control entire building complexes. Some of the larger Lutron light control systems include the 52-storey New York Times Building in New York and the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
Or, in Hall 6, specialist Nicolaudie Architectural Lighting Control (6H310) will offer innovative and advanced lighting control solutions for projects for commercial, residential, monuments, fountains, hotels, gardens, building facades and more. A recent project in USA shows how lighting can bring out residential character.
Exhibitors such as Google (2N800), Microsoft (2Q150), Logitech (2M300) and others will use ISE to show the re-defining of smart offices and meeting rooms in the smart building. Another major player in meeting rooms, Crestron (3H400) is also known for residential and smart buildings. While many homes are unique, one of Crestron’s latest projects is the Meta Residence in Florida. The sprawling real-world home includes seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a media room, and outdoor entertainment areas –but it also has a metaverse replica with additional features such as a multi-level nightclub... and a UFO garage!
