What is the World Masters of Projection Mapping?
Beginning on the 14 January leading, international video artists start a three-week display of 3D projections in the centre of Amsterdam onto the EYE Filmmuseum building and in the last week on a nearby water screen.
The video artists are competing as part of The World Masters of Projection Mapping (WMPM) competition, a joint venture initiative from Amsterdam Light Festival, Integrated Systems Events and RAI Amsterdam.
The competition culminates in the WMPM Final on the Thursday 8 February and an Awards Showcase taking place at the RAI Amsterdam on Friday 9 February – the final day of ISE 2018.
On each consecutive day leading up to the final, the work of one of the artists will be showcased from 07:00-09:00 and 17.00-23.00 on the EYE Filmmuseum.
What is Amsterdam Light Festival?
Amsterdam Light Festival is managing the competition, in collaboration with ISE and RAI Amsterdam. Amsterdam Light Festival is an annual cultural winter event exhibiting tailor-made light artworks on the canals and the former Marineterrein. Now in its sixth year, it features over 40 artworks and installations from artists, designers and architects from around the world. Located around the city centre, highlights will include an installation from Chinese artist Ai WeiWei.
