Today we see more and more that changes in the business model of the event locations are announced. More and more different programs have to be handled and the stage, architecture and technology have to adapt quickly to different requirements. The respective acoustic requirements for concerts, theatres, musicals or congresses differ significantly and it is therefore an advantage if the acoustics in a room are designed variably.
In this lecture, solutions are described as to how the room acoustics can be optimally adapted to the respective event with digital and electro-acoustic means. The various technical concepts at the state of the art are presented. Examples show how an event space can be curated artistically and commercially with the help of variable acoustics.
Date/Time: Thursday 12 May, 14:00 – 14:30
ARRI LightNet has been developed as a powerful, visually intuitive, and flexible tool to assist the smooth and efficient operation of contemporary studio facilities with both IP-based and DMX-controlled lighting systems. The CloudIO is an IoT device which provides technicians with complete diagnostics for most Claypaky fixtures. Starting from the version 1.4.1.2, CloudIO can also read the parameters of all RDM-compliant fixtures regardless of brand. When the lights run checks after use, the unit collects data on hours of lamp life of each fixture, the conditions of various components in the units and update firmware, simply by connecting to the cloud. The CloudIO is a compact device, equipped with a 7-inch capacitive touch screen. It has two in/out pass-through DMX connections, so it is possible to interface and communicate directly with up to 31 lights in series. This is particularly useful for rental companies, who can connect their lights to the CloudIO when they return from a tour. The CloudIO is equipped with a retrofit system, which allows it to be fitted to most Claypaky lights.

In many venue projects, an expectation is that the network could be one structure for all services and disciplines. It is complicated to deal with separate networks and to maintain them and they expose severe limitations to interoperability and functional integration. On the other hand – due to many reasons – it is in reality very hard to realize a fully converged network infrastructure. The 30 min. paper session will – as a joint session from d&b audiotechnik and L-Acoustics – dive into the topic and explain the future perspectives with Milan open standard TSN networks on converged networking in event venues.

Great sound is important. For emotions, for speech intelligibility or even for safety. But the visual integration of an audio system should also be a success and the speakers should blend in perfectly and inconspicuously. Fohhn has been tackling this challenge since 1993, producing innovative and sustainable audio system solutions for the global market in Germany.
Acoustics, electronics, mechanics and software form an inseparable unit. Our intelligent, digital system amplifiers and software tools are therefore just as important as the more than 100 types of loudspeakers.
On request, we offer numerous customizing options for our systems. From special colours, special enclosure lengths and special weather protection to complete custom builds.
The famous Fohhn Beam Steering Technology allows the control of the sound dispersion by mouse wheel. This allows the systems to be mounted discreetly straight on the wall without having to be tilted or curved.
Fohhn is a true partner during a project and supports with planning and simulation all the way to on-site system tuning – in the small conference room, in the cathedral as well as in the largest opera house in Europe.

Smart buildings with interconnected and integrated services are the present. Energy control, climate control, access control, video surveillance, etc. are systems for which public address is a perfect complement. Smart towns and cities are the next natural step. The applications that can be built in combination with public address systems at these levels are vast. From use for festivities or all kind of events to the increasingly necessary public safety. Fonestar’s AIP technology is a proven technology that evolves every day both in features and product line. This technology has reached a point where the only thing to worry about in terms of new devices are small, specific details. Most importantly, it enables full integration through free, high-level abstraction tools that reduce the learning curve to a minimum, such as an SDK and a RESTful API that has been released this year. Thanks to the RESTful API, integrators who use a hub device or offer a cloud service integration can offer a more complete solution by including PA in their portfolio. Best of all, they only have to worry about their application level. At all times we offer training and support on integration, but more importantly we support the design of the public address installation. Both for companies that know the industry and for newcomers.

Setting appropriate budgets for audio visual equipment in stadia and arenas is often challenging, with other aspects of a project’s delivery frequently putting pressure on the resources set aside for AV. We consider how clients can achieve a better commercial outcome by taking a holistic perspective on their budgets, resulting in a better return on investment and supporting the client’s sustainability objectives. Using examples, we demonstrate how setting the right budgets for AV, at the outset, removes the need for future compromises.

The user can select the inputs to monitor and adjust the volume level from the frront panel. There is a comprehensive remote control on Windows 10 and a configuration screen on the rear providing the following further options: gain boost, PPM mode (bargraph or single tri-colour), EQ mode, dark mode (all LEDs dimmed), input enable/disable, input mix options, bandpass filter, priority level (per input), dim level, volume pot lock, min volume setting, volume limit, line up level, grouping and power save. The Divine can be mounted via the standard mic thread on the base or the rear panel 75mm VESA mount.

The 30 min. paper session will – as a joint session from L-Acoustics and d&b audiotechnik – dive into the topic and explain the future perspectives with Milan open standard TSN networks on converged networking in event venues.

Glensound’s Divine intelligent network audio monitor speaker is a 4 input, PoE powered speaker for Dante/AES67 networks. A single Cat 5/6 connection carries the four audio channels and power. There are three priority settings available on the Divine allowing one or more of the inputs to have priority over the others. In this way you could have the program being monitored on 1, and the second input being priority announcements.
