Raymond is a principal design consultant with the international consulting practice of Harvey Marshall Berling Associate, leading the Cleveland office.  HMBA serves clients in theater planning, audiovisual design, acoustics, lighting design, IT, security, and owner's representation. His work spans four decades of award winning theater planning, audiovisual design, and lighting design across multiple market sectors including cultural and performing arts, healthcare, workplace, justice and Civic, hospitality, mixed use/retail, K-12, and higher education. He was honored as one of the top fifty AV Living Legends by Commercial Integrator Magazine in 2024 in addition to recognition for his contribution to the cultural and performing arts by The Cleveland Arts Prize and to sustainability by the Corporate Star Awards, both in 2025. Raymond's passions extend beyond the projects and clients he works with through his work in sustainability where he has made his impact and contributed his insights for the last several decades. He serves on the AVIXA Sustainability Committee and the Sustainability Design Guidelines Sub-Committee, is a former board memeber for SAVe (Sustainability in AV), and has written and presented on sustainability for the technology industry in several industry publications and trade shows, including ISE and InfoComm. Raymond is also a passionate advocate for accessibility within the built environment, leading clients towards spaces that are accessible to all through the principles of Universal Design. He believes that a space is not truely accessible if the technology in the space is not accessible. Lastly, Ray has been a college professor in the performing arts for close to three decades, teaching the next generation on the latest in AI, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and many other state-of-the-art technologies to bring stories to life.
