Manel del Castillo
Dr. Manel del Castillo holds a degree in Medicine from the University of Barcelona, specializing in Family and Community Medicine, and a master's degree in Public Management from ESADE. Since April 2003, he has served as CEO of Hospital Sant Joan de Deu Barcelna, leading the institution toward excellence in pediatric care and research. Internationally, he has been the president of the European Children's Hospital Organisation (ECHO) since 2020, focusing on fostering collaboration among pediatric hospitals across Europe.
His career in healthcare management began as the Primary Care Manager of Mallorca, followed by his roles as Provincial Director of lnsalud Balears and CEO of Fundació Hospital Manacor. In Catalonia, he served as CEO of the Municipal Hospital of Badalona and as Secretary General of the Patronal del Consorci d'Associació Patronal Sanitaria i Social (CAPSS).
Dr. Del Castillo has received several prestigious awards, including the Arthur Andersen Diorio Medico, Bearing Point, Professor Barea, Merce Sala awards, as well as recognition such as the Health Revolution Award for being one of the most influential figures in digital health. Additionally, he is a professor of healthcare management at the University of Barcelona and a visiting professor at business schools such as IESE, ESADE, and La Salle.
With extensive experience in leadership and innovation, Dr. Del Castillo has dedicated his career to driving excellence in the healthcare system and promoting people-centered management.
