John Bishop

Bishop began his career in 1978 as Technical Services Director for AudioMobile Div Advent Corp. Later Bishop became EVP Sales & Marketing for a/d/s/ makers of the earliest high fidelity in-wall loudspeakers where they coined the term ‘Architectural Audio’ as an umbrella for all their CI models that began in the 1970s. Bishop founded his New England Tech-Rep firm b/a/s/ in 1993 representing a/d/s/ and Runco International which began his passion for home cinema design. Other represented cinema related brands included Acoustic Innovations, CAT loudspeakers, Counterpoint, and Enlightened Audio Design to name a few. Today b/a/s/ bishop architectural-entertainment services, continues to represent fine home cinema manufacturers and dealers in New England. Bishop’s system designs for high-end residential cinemas feature Barco Projectors, madVR Envy Processors, Stewart Filmscreens, James Cinema Loudspeakers, Lyngdorf Audio SSP’s and Purify power amplification, and Cineak theater furnishings. To optimize the final delivered experience, Bishop provides Performance Tuning and benchmarking services along with Periodic Proof of Performance maintenance for premium cinemas addressing both sound and image. b/a/s/ services are offered in his New England home market and Nationally on a fee basis. Bishop was appointed CEA - Cinema Experience Architect, for Stewart Filmscreen Corp. at CEDIA EXPO 2023. Bishop was also made EVP of the Mavericks Architectural Cinema div James Loudspeaker in 2018 and toured six major cities in China on behalf of James Loudspeaker’s Mavericks-Architectural-Cinema products delivering dealer training and presenting awards for outstanding cinema design work for some of China’s most impressive Architectural Cinema installations. Bishop is on the CEDIA standards committees for cinema immersive sound design, immersive image design, and ‘Performance Facts’ engineering specifications. He is a member of CEDIA, SMPTE, AES and the ISDCF professional cinema group.
