Erik Ubels, MBA, guides stakeholders across the smart building ecosystem—from real-estate developers to engineering, product, software, and consulting teams—helping them define project requirements, build strategic blueprints, and develop IoT, sensor, and digital-twin capabilities. He also advises owners and tenants on optimizing existing portfolios for energy performance, asset management, space use, health, well-being, and productivity. Formerly CIO of Deloitte Netherlands, Erik led the creation of The Edge in Amsterdam, the world’s first fully converged smart building—renowned for its sustainability, connectivity, and occupant-centric design. The project earned global acclaim from Bloomberg, CNN, and others, while driving measurable gains in recruitment, well-being, space efficiency, and cost reduction. Since 2020, Erik has worked as an independent smart-building consultant, with his expertise and track record bringing significant value and credibility to every project he joins.
