Alex Navarro
Alex Navarro (Barcelona) holds a degree in Philosophy and an specialized training in image and sound. Since June 2014, he has been leading the Creative Europe Desk - MEDIA Catalonia. This EU office is a collaborative partnership between the European Commission and the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries, where Alex began his career in 2002, working with the MEDIA Antenna until 2010. He went on to serve as Director of Catalan Films & TV Consortium (2011-2012) and Director of International Markets at Catalan Arts (2013-2014). In his current role, Alex’s office plays a pivotal role in promoting, representing, and informing about the MEDIA Programme and other European funding initiatives that benefit the audiovisual sector. His deep understanding of audiovisual policies has expanded to include other key European programs such as Eurimages and Ibermedia. As an educator, Alex has contributed to postgraduate courses on audiovisual distribution, Video on Demand (VoD), and new business models at institutions like UOC and Filmin. He has also participated as an expert in the audiovisual working group during the Danish Presidency. His professional journey spans various roles within the audiovisual industry, including work with RTVE, RTO for the 1992 Olympic Games, and providing training and consultancy services. Film music is also a key area of his expertise, further enriching his multifaceted career.
