This course discusses the role of usability in technology, with the goal of understanding why clients sometimes find the systems we install “hard to use,” while discovering design techniques that can be used to reduce perceived complexity and increase user satisfaction.
Topics discussed will include human perception, basic cognitive psychology, the concepts of usability and user-centred design, and the role usability plays in the overall User Experience (UX). A series of design exercises and group discussions will keep the material grounded in our line of work.
This course is intended for anyone who has a role in designing, specifying, or creating products or systems with a user interface (UI).
