The convergence of IT and AV at Brigham Young University
Bradley T Streeter
Chief Audio Visual Engineer
Brigham Young University
Abstract:
In early 2015, the Audio Visual Services group at Brigham Young University made a strong commitment to embrace and advance IT principles in order to make our AV systems more open, more agile and more manageable. This sent us down an exciting path of IoT, open protocols, APIs and microservices (to name a few). We'll share our successes, our challenges and our adventures in finding vendors who are embracing open protocols. We'll also talk about the open source hardware we are using and the open source AV control system that we are developing to interact with, control, and monitor all of our AV systems on campus.
