As more AV distribution moves to IT infrastructure, it is critical for AV system designers and installers to understand some of the basic networking protocols that make this possible. Multicast is a crucial technology that allows high bandwidth streams to move around a network without overwhelming the entire network. At this session you will: Learn what multicasting is, and why it is necessary for any practical AV over IP solution. Identify tools for configuring and troubleshooting multicast networks. Understand the difference between multicasting and VLANs, and a little bit about how they interact.
Speaker Biography:
Laurent Masia has extensive experience in networking, storage and channel distribution. Currently Laurent is the Senior Product Line Manager for Smart Switches, Managed Switches and Modules at NETGEAR, an SDVoE Alliance founding member. Laurent is responsible for product portfolio management and business development for NETGEAR Managed Infrastructure. He holds a master in management degree from SKEMA Business School, Sophia Antipolis - France.
