During ISE 2017, the following group of world-renowned designers and marketers were on site to judge the finalists. Jurors scored each finalist based on the assessment criteria, and the stand with the highest points total in each entry category was declared its winner.
Matthias Braun, creative director, Studio Atelier Damböck Messebau GmbH, Munich
Matthias Braun brings more than 23 years of experience to his position as creative director at Studio Atelier Damböck Messebau GmbH. Founded in 1975, the Munich-based studio has developed into a global provider of 3-D communication and brand design with branches and partners in Europe, the United States, and China. Prior to joining Atelier Damböck, Braun worked with Infocus Design in Sydney, where he designed an award-winning motor-show exhibit for the Land Rover brand. He partners with clients and mentors multidisciplinary design teams to create outstanding projects such as trade fair stands, show rooms, events, interiors, and environments for clients all over the world, including brands such as Apple Computer, Atomic Ski, Baxter, Cazal Eyewear, Doka, Microsoft, Salesforce.com, Siemens, Xylem, and many more.
Dick de Jong, manager of presentations and collections, NEMO Science Museum, Amsterdam
Dick de Jong
Dick de Jong is the manager of presentations and collections at the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam, where his department is responsible for the exhibitions, programs, and heritage collection featuring more than 17,000 objects. De Jong is currently updating the museum, and by 2020 it will have new exhibitions on every floor, a new restaurant, and an entrance space and unique outdoor exhibition area. He is also on the program committee at Hands On! — International Association of Children in Museums, and he was part of the project team for the Tropenmuseum’s Haitian Vodou exhibition. Featuring life-size images, alters, and intriguing artifacts, the exhibition appeared in Amsterdam Oct. 31, 2008, to May 10, 2009, during which time it became one of the most visited exhibitions in the history of the Tropenmuseum. Thereafter, the Haitian Vodou exhibition traveled to Gothenburg, Sweden; Bremen, Germany; Berlin, and Stockholm.
Aleksey Kozyrev, exhibition design team lead, Wargaming Group Ltd., Minsk, Belarus
Aleksey Kozyrev is currently the exhibition design team lead at Wargaming Group Ltd., an award-winning online game developer and publisher. Here he leads a team focused on creating amazing and unique stand designs for shows such as the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Gamescom, the Toyko Game Show, and many others. His work has been honored multiple times in EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Exhibit Design Awards. Kozyrev has also worked for one of the biggest advertising agencies in Belarus and has held key leadership roles in various interior design companies in Belarus and Russia.
Andrew Sexton, creative director and agency partner, 2LK Design Ltd., Farnham, United Kingdom
In addition to being a guest lecturer and speaker, Andrew Sexton is the creative director and an agency partner at 2LK Design Ltd., an award-winning experiential design agency based in Farnham, United Kingdom. Sexton has managed high-level experience design for the likes of Honda Motor Co., Mozilla Corp., HSBC Bank International, and Fabergé (UK) Ltd. He has overseen 2LK’s wider creative output and pioneered its approach to intelligent, insight-led creativity for more than 10 years. Driven by an absolute passion and commitment for design effectiveness, Sexton offers a vision that is key to the firm’s ongoing success and that shapes the work it produces.
