Despite challenging social and economic factors, the residential install (systems integration) market is still strong. According to a recent market analysis, the UK market is estimated to be worth £2.9 billion and is predicted to show favourable growth in the next 12 months.

The four business categories expected to grow the most over the next 12 months are home cinema, media rooms, outdoor AV systems, and lighting/shading. While this research covers the UK market, anecdotal evidence suggests a similar set of priorities across the residential market in EMEA.

With the plethora of high-quality content available from streaming services, a multi-functional media room can cater to TV, movies, gaming, and music—all in one space. High-end media rooms may feature the same equipment as dedicated cinemas but with pull-down screens, concealed projection, and bookshelf speakers. The increase of weather-resistant, durable technologies has made connected outdoor spaces another key growth area. Outdoor lighting and entertainment systems can transform gardens into extensions of the home, perfect for social gatherings, movie nights, and alfresco dinners.

ISE has showcased an explosion of outdoor smart home technology, including all-in-one outdoor music and lighting systems, and weather-resistant speakers, projection screens and TVs. Integrating these areas into a home’s automation system allows clients to personalise every aspect of their living environment.

Growth drivers include:

  • Innovations in outdoor AV systems,
  • An increasing focus on home entertainment
  • The desire to maximise outdoor living spaces

Lighting & shading

Wellness and sustainability trends are driving the demand for smart lighting and shading technologies. Smart lighting offers convenience and efficiency through dimming technology and location awareness. Professionally installed lighting and shading systems can work together to create the perfect balance in a home. Some advanced shading systems even mimic sunlight at any time of day or night, enhancing comfort and well-being.

Growth drivers include:

  • Rising awareness of wellness and sustainability
  • Advancements in smart home technology
  • Ease of integration between professional brands
