“Organisations across the globe have invested some hard-earned cash into smart building technology, but perhaps haven't been able to unlock its true potential,” says Dr Matthew Marson, Managing Director for Technology Advisory EMEA, JLL Technologies – part of the world’s largest corporate real estate company.

Most often, he says, this is because of a failure to transition from data acquisition to actionable insights. Key to success is the effective use of artificial intelligence (AI). “In order for you to be able to apply AI across all of the data that your smart building has generated, you need to have a good foundation. With that, and knowing how proprietary data is controlled, structured, and governed, means that you’ll be able to unlock all of the benefits that we’ve been promised from smart building technology.”

Matthew will expand on this topic in his session at the Smart Building Summit at ISE 2025, entitled Realising the Value of Smart Buildings with Enterprise Agility, and will lay out a roadmap for agile smart building success.

Property developers in particular can expect to get plenty of value from the session – especially those “who want to know more about how to enhance their assets, and where they can take them next” in terms of value generation. “Large corporate occupiers, who have maybe dabbled in smart building technology but haven’t really felt the benefit of it yet,” will also get a lot out of attending.

On a personal level, what Matthew is most looking forward to at ISE 2025 is the opportunity to network with a large number of industry luminaries: “There’ll be a lot of people at the Smart Building Summit talking about how they are leading the way in the industry.”  Attending offers a fantastic opportunity to speak with them and learn from their case studies, he says, all while soaking in the beautiful setting of Barcelona!
