FAQFrequently Asked Questions

Change of date

Please can you confirm the new dates for ISE 2021

We look forward to welcoming you to the Gran Via, Fira de Barcelona on 1-4 June 2021

Why make the decision now?

We needed to balance the developing international situation in respect to the pandemic, the concerns of our exhibitors who need to make long term business decisions with an industry that wishes the show to take place, if at all possible, in the first quarter of 2021. We had made a commitment to our exhibitors that a decision would be taken before the end of October 2020 in order to minimize the impact of changing dates for ISE2021.  Now that we have been able to confirm the rescheduled dates, we look forward to working together to deliver a successful event in June.

Have you got the full backing of the associations in this decision as that means that you are moving ISE much nearer to their events in the calendar?

Yes. This decision was made with full consultation with AVIXA and CEDIA in order to ensure the safety of attendees, exhibitors and staff.

Why have you chosen to hold the event in June?

We listened to our exhibitors and stakeholders and the view was that a delay until the middle of the year was the preferred schedule; July and August were felt to be too late in the year.  Due to the many shows already cancelled and rescheduled for future dates, availability for a show of our size was not possible. With this information we worked with the venue, hotels and travel services and other stakeholders and were able to secure the most appropriate alternative dates in June.

With ISE and InfoComm happening just weeks apart, what does this mean for exhibitors who traditionally exhibit at both?

While we understand that multiple shows in a short timeline might not be the most ideal situation for some exhibitors, the pandemic has created new challenges beyond our control. Our combined teams are still working to ensure the community coming back together.

What does postponing 2021 event to June mean for 2022 – will you stick at June or will you keep the original February slot?

It is very clear from our communications with our advisory committee, and exhibitor and stakeholder communities that they want an event at the beginning of the calendar year.  We plan to return to Barcelona and our original dates in February 2022.

Will InfoComm still take place in June?

AVIXA has confirmed plans to run the InfoComm 2021 event as scheduled, June 12-18, with tradeshow dates as June 16-18 and would only change those plans if instructed to by a public health or governmental authority. Please visit for more details.

Content programme

When will ISE announce the new content programme for the show?

We are excited to be working on a rich and engaging experience which will encompass show floor features, a packed conference schedule and new special digital features at ISE 2021 in June – details will be posted here from January 2021 – keep an eye out for all the latest news.

Can you explain more about RISE Digital?

We will be bringing you more details about this – RISE Digital will be a programme of online activities that we will be running monthly from November 2020 through to June 2021 – we can’t wait to bring you more – watch this space!

Will The Next Web still be involved in ISE 2021?

Yes. The TNW activities will provide an inspirational new feature for ISE and we can’t wait to tell you more.  We will announce the revised TNW programme in the New Year.

Travel and Registration

What happens to my hotel and travel bookings I have already made for the original February dates?

Please refer to the organisation with whom you made your bookings; in general hotels and travel operators have been helpful in rebooking for the new dates. For more information on travel services

Are there any changes to hotel prices for the new dates?

We have been working closely with our official travel partner, bnetwork, in order to secure the best possible arrangements.  We are pleased that we have been able to secure the same prices as the original February bookings for the vast majority of hotels.  Please contact bnetwork for specific arrangements.

When will visitor registration open?

Registration will open on 1 December 2020 and you will be able to register for the show and sign up for any of the conferences.

COVID-19 situation

What will you do if the COVID19 situation has not improved?

Whilst we hope that the impact of the global pandemic will be manageable by June next year, we will be closely monitoring the situation.  We will continue to put the safety of our exhibitors and attendees at the forefront of any decision we make. All attendees should pay careful attention to the latest travel advice from their respective countries.

What measures will you be putting in place to ensure the event can go ahead safely?

The health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our priority.  We have worked with the Fira and other expert bodies to draw up an extensive set of measures to maximise the safety of everyone involved at ISE 2021. These are published in
A Guide To Safe Exhibiting
, which is available to download here. A further guide for visitors will be available soon.

What kind of experience can I expect at ISE 2021?

ISE 2021 is likely to be one of the first trade shows to run post-pandemic and it will offer the whole industry – organizers, attendees, venue and exhibitors – an opportunity to meet, network, learn and do business face to face and digitally. We aren’t sure what all that will look like yet but we are sure that, as an industry, our passion, ingenuity and innovation will allow for health and commerce together.  We are looking forward to seeing you as part of the reinvented and reimagined trade fair!
