Transforming Paediatric Care: Inside the SJD Command Center and Patient Robotics
Tech Tour detailsThe Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona Children’s Hospital features an advanced Command Center, operational for three years, designed to enhance patient flow management and contact with patients and families.
The Command Center utilises real-time data to monitor key aspects like hospital occupancy, admissions, discharges, and resource availability, which helps in improving patient care and reducing wait times. The initiative demonstrates the hospital's commitment to more effective decision making, providing high-quality care and enhancing the patient experience.
According to Francesc Garcia Cuyás, from the Medical Directorate, “Technological environments such as these can be very useful including times of health emergencies.” He emphasises that managing information in real time offers immediate insight into critical situations, aiding in better decision-making regarding patient care.
Visitors to the Command Center can expect an intriguing experience, as the tour will also highlight the hospital's innovative use of robotics in both hospitalisation, preoperative settings and to help palliative paediatric patients at home, along with insights into a new study focused on emergency-care waiting rooms. The tour will showcase the combination of technology and compassionate care that represents the future of paediatric healthcare.
