March’s ISE Spotlight had the theme of Smart Buildings: The Way Forward. Participants ranged from seasoned experts to exciting starts-ups as the event explored how building owners and managers are investing in smart technology-driven integrated solutions to develop a safe, post Covid environment in which to welcome back businesses and tenants.
It was produced in association with TNW.

But we begin with more details of ISE’s announcement that this year’s four-day show will be replaced by two-day shows in four European locations across the month of June.
In the Startup Nation segment, Nikolas Samios, co-founder of Proptech1 – the first venture capital fund in Germany focused on proptech startups – discussed key trends and notable fledgling companies in the smart building arena with moderator Már Másson Maack.
Bob Snyder, Content Chairman of ISE’s Smart Building Conference, discusses how in-building technology becomes a critical driver for everything that happens in a building – and how the pandemic accelerates trends that were happening in any case.
“Our springboard into smart buildings was Informa at 240 Blackfriars. Various consultants were struggling to realise how to stitch the systems together to realise the client vision. I knew we were the best placed to make this work, so I stuck my neck out and we were promoted to Master System Integrators. As a young team in our 20s, going from AV Integrator to MSI was a significant moment!”
